Brno, rejoice – there are 20 new apartments!

There’s a shortage of apartments. And in Brno this is felt more than anywhere else. That’s why we’re glad that we could help in this matter at least a little. Twenty new apartments, that’s twenty dreams come true…

Windows with the glass knocked out, a dilapidated building, and such potential! As architects, the Mostecká apartment building had been on our minds for a long time. When the assignment landed on our desk, we were beside ourselves with joy. This modernisation project immediately became a pleasure for us.

Originally, it was a three-storey Neo-renaissance tenement building from the first quarter of the 20th century with 12 small apartments, with shared toilets on the corridor. Even at the time of its construction, the building was designed with mostly small apartments for the less well-off. The architectural and construction standard of the whole building was very good, so we had something to fall back on.

The complete modernisation project took several years. One floor was added and a new two-storey building was built in the courtyard. The building acquired an elevator, a green roof, and, after work on the basement, also spaces for cellar closets and a boiler room. But most importantly, 20 new housing units were created, ranging in size from studio to two-bedroom apartments. The city plans to offer these apartments mainly to young families, and has reserved 8 of them for social purposes.
